Some recent gigsMonday 4th March - CU Engineering Society Annual DinnerSelwyn Jazz provided the after dinner entertainment, and even got some engineers up on the dancefloor! The University Arms hotel was the venue for this particular event. Monday 18th Feb - Emmanuel MCR DinnerPost-formal entertainment was provided by Selwyn Jazz in Emmanual Old Library. The black-tie-clad MCR students danced until the earlier hours to a wide variety of charts ranging from In The Mood all the way to Inspector Gadget. A generous MCR bar meant that a good time was had by all and we hope to be invited to similar events again! Saturday 2nd Feb - Newnham Boat Club CocktailsIn a change from the standard DJ cheese at such events, Newnham hosted Selwyn Jazz for a boat club sponsored cocktail party. Even though the room was a tad small for a big band, we proved that a 20-strong big band can still play quietly! Friday 30th Nov - Selwyn SnowballTorrential rain did not deter the people queueing outside, and those fortunate enough to be inside were treated to a mixture of classic jazz with modern vocals from us. Saturday 20th October - Private 21st birthday party at SelwynThursday 21st June 2007 - Marshall Society garden party3:00pm - 5:00pm at Peterhouse College One of the few outside gigs we had where it didn't rain, the band filled Peterhouse gardens with the sounds of the '20s and '30s. Good music and a chocolate fountain meant the afternoon was enjoyed by all those who attended. Sat 10th March 2007, 8:00-11:30pm - Selwyn DiamondOur first jazz night in Selwyn Diamond for some time proved to be an overwhelming success, selling out within an hour of the doors opening. The renowned Torben Rees trio started off the evening's entertainment with ourselves - Selwyn Jazz - taking the stage for the second half. With the Cambridge Lindy Hoppers providing an expertly tutored session on Swing dancing in the interval, the dance floor became packed as everyone tried out their new found dancing skills! All in all a very good night, many thanks to the Torben Rees trio, Cambridge Lindy hoppers and all who attended.
